Kate joined Angel Chambers in 2008 after successful completion of the Cardiff Bar Vocational Course and graduating from Swansea University with a first class honours degree in law. She was called to the Bar in 2008 by Grays Inn.
Following her successful completion of pupillage she was taken on as a Tenant in Chambers in July 2009. She has quickly established a varied practice which she is keen to continually develop in all three areas.
CRIME:
Kate undertakes all general aspects of criminal law which include applications and contested hearings under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2006 and has prosecuted and defended in both the Magistrates Courts and the Crown Courts across South Wales. She also has experience of conducting jury trials and has represented both prosecution and Defence in trials of issue.
She has also been instructed to prosecute for the Department of Work and Pensions and has appeared on behalf of the appellant and respondent in appeals in respect of matters relating to financial benefit afforded by the Department.
Kate also regularly prosecutes in both the Magistrates and Crown Courts on behalf of SERCO monitoring in respect of breaches in relation to electronic tagging requirements under a curfew order.
FAMILY:
In family matters she has been instructed in private and public law cases, which include final hearings in private law matters, as well as injunctive applications and contested hearings under the Family Law Act in which she undertakes both applicant and respondent work.
CIVIL:
Kate also receives instructions in most aspects of civil litigation undertaking work for both claimant and defendant at differing levels which include personal injury fast track trials in the county court.
