Freddie joined Chambers as a tenant in April 2023 following the successful completion of his pupillage under the supervision of Matthew Rees KC (Family) and James Hartson (Crime).

Freddie achieved First Class Honours in his Law degree at Swansea University. Following this, he went on to undertake his BPTC and LLM at Cardiff University.

Freddie has developed a broad practice in the areas of family and civil law. He accepts instructions in private and public law children matters, family injunctions, small and fast track claims, possession claims and in disciplinary and regulatory matters.

Practice Areas

Family law

Freddie has a busy family law practice representing both applicants and respondents in a range of family matters in the County Court before Magistrates, District Judges and Circuit Judges.

Private law:

Freddie frequently receives instructions to represent a range of individuals, including parents and grandparents, in respect of applications for Child Arrangements Orders, Specific Issue Orders and Prohibited Steps Orders. Freddie undertakes work at all stages of proceedings in private children matters from conciliation and direction hearings through to final hearings. Freddie is regularly instructed in matters which involve domestic abuse, child abuse allegations and where there is Local Authority involvement.

Freddie has also made and responded to applications for Non-Molestation and Occupation Orders.

Public law:

Freddie accepts instructions in public law matters and has represented parents at a variety of stages including C2 applications, case management hearing and issues resolutions hearings in respect of applications for Care and Supervision Orders. 

Criminal law

Freddie is regularly instructed by both the prosecution and defence in the Magistrates and Crown Courts across South and West Wales.

Freddie prosecutes and defends in a wide range of criminal cases such as public order offences, offences against the person, driving offences, drug offences and theft.

Freddie is instructed in relation to sentences, bail applications and trials.

Freddie is also instructed to appear on behalf of the police to respond to appeals against Community Protection Notices.

Freddie is a Level 1 on the Crown Prosecution Service Advocate Panel.

Civil law

Freddie represents both claimants and defendants in a variety of Small Claims and Fast Track trials including road traffic accidents and personal injury disputes.

Freddie is also instructed to represent both applicants and respondents in stage 3 personal injury hearings, infant approval hearings and possession claims.

Freddie is also regularly instructed as Presenting Officer on behalf of the Education Workforce Council in relation to Fitness to Practice hearings. These cases have included allegations of dishonesty, assault, inappropriate communication and sexual misconduct.

Freddie also regularly represents the police in applications for Destruction and Contingent Destruction Orders, Account Forfeiture Orders and appeals against Community Protection Notices.
