Luke joined Chambers as a Tenant in 2017 following the successful completion of his pupillage under the supervision of Alison Donovan (Family).

Prior to commencing pupillage, Luke worked as a Magistrates’ Court Legal Adviser across South and West Wales for a period of nine years, dealing with the full range of criminal and family matters before those Courts. Luke was also heavily involved in the provision of training to colleagues and Magistrates and wrote training materials for use by the Judicial College.

Family law

Luke has a busy family law practice, accepting instructions in private and public law proceedings.

Private Law

Luke has appeared before all levels of Judiciary in the County Court. He regularly appears at FHDRAs, directions hearings and final hearings. He has successfully represented a Father at a Final Hearing, opposed to his children being removed from the jurisdiction permanently.

Luke has also been instructed in relation to applications under the Family Law Act 1996.

Public Law

Luke has appeared before all levels of Judiciary in the County Court in relation to the full range of public law hearings. He has been instructed in a number of contested interim removal hearings for both parents. Luke has also conducted a number of final hearings in care proceedings on behalf of parents and the Local Authority. Luke has been instructed in final hearings in relation to applications for leave to oppose adoption orders and leave to revoke placement orders

Criminal law

Luke is regularly instructed by the CPS to conduct trials in the Magistrates’ Court and appears in the Crown Court in relation to appeals, committals for sentences, bail applications and sentencing.

Luke has recently been instructed by the CPS to prosecute a multi-day trial in the Crown Court for offences of Affray and Possession of an Offensive Weapon. Further, he has been instructed in the Crown Court to defend a charge of possession with intent to supply class A drugs.

Civil law

Luke has been instructed to appear for both Claimants and Defendants in the County Court in a number of Small Claims in respect of RTAs and Credit Hire Agreements. Luke also has experience of Stage 3 Disposal Hearings, appearing for both the Claimant and Defendant Insurance Companies.

He has also received instructions to appear in Fast Track trials.
